Encapsulation
Techsil supply InvisiSil LED silicone encapsulants from Momentive Performance Materials which deliver a range of refractive indices (1.41 - 1.53) and high optical efficiencies (light transmittance >95%, 400-800nm). They also provide long term resistance against yellowing and delamination. The InvisiSil portfolio includes IVS4632 which offers high hardness and excellent light transmittance over a wide range of wavelengths and IVS4012 which is a gel material preventing stressing of LED chips.

New from Momentive is IVS4742, a self bonding LED encapsulant material with a viscosity and clarity that enables low pressure direct on-board lens moulding.

Also available from Techsil is Techsil's own two phase polyurethane potting system which significantly reduces production time.

Glob Top
New glob top silicone encapsulants from Momentive provide consistent dispensing performance and material flow to form the dome shape for COB (chip on board) encapsulation. Component designers with chip-mounting and wire-bonding capabilities can benefit from the process simplicity that these materials offer in LED COB packaging applications.

Thermal Management
Thermally conductive silicones help dissipate the heat generated by high brightness LEDs. Techsil supply greases, adhesives and potting materials for thermal management. Our RTV1084G for example, is a non-corrosive, 1-part, (RTV) silicone rubber. It exhibits excellent primerless adhesion to many substrates. The product is cured rapidly in contact with atmospheric moisture to a tough rubber. It has thermal conductivity of 2.3W/m°K it is fast skinning and has low linear shrinkage.
