Boeing CST-100 Spacecraft Adopts LED Lighting to Create Calm Environment for Astronaut

In accordance with reports from foreign media, on July 23, 2013 in the United States, two NASA astronauts evaluated communications, ergonomics and crew-interface aspects of the Boeing Crew Space Transportation-100 (CST-100) capsule for the first time.

Boeing CST-100's interior features tablet displays as well as multicolor LED lighting pioneered on Boeing commercial airplanes. What's more, the capsule can be manufactured without welds, giving it greater structural integrity. Boeing's "Sky Interior" to emit purple light with LED lighting creates a more peaceful environment for astronauts.

In addition, CST-100 comes with numerous high-tech features, including enhanced thermal protection device, touch-screen tablet, as well as the devices providing multiple protections for astronauts.

The Boeing CST-100 and its launch system are being developed under a Space Act Agreement with NASA's Commercial Crew Program during the agency's Commercial Crew Integrated Capability (CCiCap) development phase. According to the space program, CST-100 will take the orbital flight in 2016; NASA expects that the space station can conduct commercial space travel in next year.
