GE and USG Ceilings™ Provide Versatile Ceiling and Lighting Solutions for Commercial Building Designers and Architects

Designed Together to Work Together™, GE’s LED lighting complemented by USG’s ceiling and wall solutions helps free commercial architects, designers and building contractors from the constraints of traditional design. From seamless ceilings to customized wall murals, GE and USG provide advanced engineering and striking aesthetics for commercial lighting.

Offering a break from traditional and uninspired ceilings is the USG Ceilings™ Brand Logix™ Integrated Ceiling System paired with GE’s Lumination™ BL Series LED Luminaires, presenting a tailored design element with a completely continuous, flexible and environmentally conscious system. Designed and tested together and now available in 2-, 4- and 5-foot lengths, the system makes it simple to construct stylish commercial lighting systems across the entire length of ceilings in such environments as offices, retail stores, hotels and restaurants.

GE Lumination™ BL Series LED Luminaires were designed and tested for the Logix™ Ceiling System from USG to help architects create more inspired layouts in offices and other commercial spaces.

Rather than using exposed fixtures, it incorporates the Lumination BL Series LED Luminaires’ seamless and narrow bands of bright, crisp light, each measuring 4 or 6 inches wide, that run the length of the room with no dark spots. This gives designers the freedom to create ceilings with a clean, finished appearance while retaining the functionality of a t-grid system for standard maintenance of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.

“Commercial building designers and architects now have more flexibility and freedom to create imaginative environments while reducing energy and maintenance needs,” said Eric Stevenson, general manager of indoor LED lighting fixtures for GE Lighting. “GE’s Lumination LED Linear Recessed Luminaires can easily connect together for long, continuous runs, establishing an innovative ceiling solution with the Logix Integrated Ceiling System.”

A product of GE ecomagination℠, Lumination BL Series LED Luminaires deliver 31-39 percent improved energy efficiency as opposed to traditional T5 linear fluorescent lamps.

GE and USG also have worked together to create other unique commercial lighting and ceiling options. The USG Ceilings™ Brand Compässo™ and Compässo™ Elite Ceiling Suspension systems provide crisp, clean island ceilings that incorporate GE LED Accent Lighting. Graceful, flowing arcs or custom ceiling trim shapes—backlit by energy-efficient lighting—can easily be incorporated and installed, adding a unique design element to any commercial space.

“We are excited to present versatile ceiling design solutions that seamlessly incorporate GE’s LED lighting,” said Scott Qualls, director of sales and marketing, USG Ceilings. “Together, we offer a contemporary alternative to traditional t-grid systems. Architects and designers now can beautifully enhance commercial spaces with energy-efficient and functional design.”

Beyond ceilings, GE and USG have created customizable murals that incorporate photos, brand logos or geometric shapes that help define nearly any space, including retail, hospitality and commercial environments. USG Ceilings™ Brand Pixels™ Wall Mounted Panels are unique wall decorations backlit by GE’s Tetra® PowerGrid architectural lighting, a modular LED system that replaces fluorescent in backlighting applications that require broad, uniform illumination. This unique LED system provides long life, energy efficiency and brilliant, uniform light across a variety of applications.

"The collaboration with USG is about giving the architectural and interior design communities what they want, including lighting systems for ceilings and walls that make design projects much easier and more flexible," says Jaime Irick, general manager for GE Lighting’s North America Professional Solutions. "When two innovation leaders like USG and GE come together as our teams have done, the results can start to reshape an industry."
