Prolight Opto to Focus on LED Module and Automotive Lighting Market After Listing

Entering its 10th anniversary this year, Taiwanese LED package manufacturer Prolight Opto Technology (Prolight) will become registered on the Taiwan bourse on Sept. 24, 2014. At a press conference, the company explained it expects to apply for listing during first half of 2015, and projects becoming listed on the bourse during third quarter that year.

After joining Prolight in 2007, the company’s business strategy changed from “using limited resources to complete many tasks,” to tuning into client demands, and focusing on competitive core businesses, said company Chairman Feng-Ming Chen. Prolight’s staff hard work also finally paid off in 2010, when the company was finally able to turn around its financial performance. The company showed significant growth in 2013 and 2014, with revenue during first half of 2014 reaching NT $488 million. Net profits during first half of 2014 doubled compared to the same period in 2013 to reach NT $30 million, and Earning Per Share (EPS) was NT $0.66.

Prolight’s President Michael Hsing emphasized, the company has focused on technology expertise. The company’s technology developments focused on high Cost/Performance ratio (C/P) products, while providing more competitive prices than international manufacturers. In terms of the company’s product structure, LED commercial lighting and residential lighting products have the largest share totaling 58 percent, followed by outdoor and architectural lighting’s 20 percent, with entertainment lighting trailing at 15 percent and others lighting applications consisting the remaining 7 percent.

The company’s main revenue source still comes from high power LED products, said Hsing. The company plans to raise high power LED production capacity in 2015, and at the same time focus on LED modules and automotive lighting market. Prolight’s R&D and customized services has earned it a partnership opportunity with a major U.S. lighting manufacturer to develop automotive LED lighting products. Major U.S. luminaire manufacturers are also ordering LED modules from Prolight, which is expected to bring new breakthroughs for the company.

The company showcased six high power LED products at the press conference including Hornet Series, Unicorn Series, Crab Series, Proeon Series, Phenix 3535 Series, and Phenix Series.

Additionally, Prolight plans to purchase new LED equipment to meet order demands. The company is also considering establishing a manufacturing base in China to become closer to clients. Aside from establishing a retail shop in Shanghai, the company also plans to set up another shop in southern China by 2015.
