The Uttar Pradesh government is working round-the-clock to develop Ayodhya as the country’s first solar city. In this context, the government has targeted to break the world record for the longest solar street light line. The move aligns with the Union Government’s ‘Smart Cities Mission’ initiative. Currently, Saudi Arabia’s Malham is holding the rank and got the recognition in December 2021.

The Ayodhya project is a part of a series of contracts that Lord’s Mark Industries has bagged under the ‘Ayodhya Solar City Program’ by Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), Government of Uttar Pradesh in partnership with Philips. These lights will be installed in a phased manner.

Details of Contract:-
As per the contract valued in crores, Lord’s Mark Industries will manage the designing, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of LED-based smart solar street lights with LiFePO4 battery including a 5-year comprehensive warranty along with operations and maintenance.

"We are pleased to get the opportunity to install good number of smart solar street lighting in phases at Ayodhya. Our engagement with UPNEDA will demonstrate the effective synergy between the government and public sector in spreading the benefit of solar electrification among the larger population of the country. We are using our capabilities to the fullest to install smart solar street lighting systems in Uttar Pradesh, the fourth largest in terms of area and the most populous state in the country. Rolling out the exercise with lighting up Ayodhya truly marks an auspicious beginning.”
