LiteOn Exhibits Advanced Automotive Lighting and Light Sensors at 2017 Shanghai Int’l Auto Lamp Exposition

The 3rd Shanghai International Auto Lamp Exposition and the 12th Auto Lamp Industry Development Technical Forum, organized by the Committee of GTB and CATARC, opened its curtain under the spotlight. The exposition gathered the whole automotive lighting supply chain, from providers of key components- driver ICs, optoelectronic components, and waterproof auto lamp films- and car light manufacturers, to Chinese major automakers.

LEDinside here has an opportunity to share insights regarding LiteOn’s business strategies by interviewing Sander Su, Senior Director Global Marketing Division & NBD Division.

LiteOn showcased all series of automotive LEDs, light sensors, and lighting solutions for front- and interior-lighting, rear lamps, and smart sensing at 2017 Shanghai International Auto Lamp Exposition, to resonate its theme ‘Create Infinite Possibilities’.

Front Lighting

LiteOn showcased a holistic range of exterior and interior lighting solutions from mid/high power to low power products. The company provides different headlamp designs for customization requests from different automakers and also keeps focusing on the development of mid/high power light sources, also one of the highlights of the exposition, in consistence with the market trend to replace low power light sources with mid/high power ones. Headlamps have slowly become embodiments of auto lamp makers’ technology advancements. LiteOn launched multi-chip LED packages with a brand new structure, in which each chip can be driven independently and performs with high reliability, light efficiency, color uniformity and consistency, and low thermal resistance. The wide variety of specifications can be used in applications including daytime running lamps, fog lamps, high- and low- beams; and other special kinds such as matrix beams and adaptive driving beams (ADB).

LiteOn’s high power chip packages features 2-5 chips, giving a luminous efficiency as that of light sources manufactured by international lighting giants. In particular, within the packages the pitches between chips are made wider for individual chip control, enabling lighting companies to introduce the packages to smart headlamp applications such as ADB.

LEDinside observed that the exhibit packages is not only AEC-Q101 certified but silver-free, which improves the sulfidation resistance and prevents rapid light fade. LiteOn also displayed its new 3-in-1 customized light source sporting high power chips.

Rear Position Lamp

With the introduction of LED, rear lamp designing becomes another focus of the automotive lighting industry. A number of unique and unconventional rear lamps were introduced at the exposition. LiteOn’s PLCC6 G6S series are manufactured silver-free and with improved thermal dissipation. Even under 110°C, the packages when powered still work with high reliability and optical performance, enabling innovative and efficient rear lamp designs.

Smart Sensing and Intelligent Systems

In terms of interior ambient lighting, LiteOn announced its 3-in-1 multi color LED chips, which, unlike regular white LED chips simply emphasizing thermal dissipation and luminous efficiency, offers LEDs with different color temperatures for various car types. Regarding human centric lighting (HCL) inside cars, the multi color chips are able to create a multitude of in-car ambiance.

As for light sources for dashboard signals, aside from PLCC and Mini Top series providing holistic illumination, LiteOn also showcased its Multi Color 3 in 1 Sideview LEDs. In addition, mid power LED wise, LiteOn not only brought their PLCC packages commonly-used in rear lamps but the C35 package with a new optical lens through which the light source presents a concentrated beam with very low divergence.
