This strategy includes a strong focus on two major wired control technologies, DALI-2 and KNX, and an active effort to adopt the Matter wireless communication standard. This approach ensures that system integrators can build smart lighting systems without concerns about integration and interoperability, positioning MEAN WELL’s solutions as the ideal market choice.
At the autumn edition of the 2025 Hong Kong Lighting Fair, MEAN WELL showcased new products centering on the “2+1” strategy. The lineup included the XLC-KN Series (KNX LED drivers), XLC-MA Series (Matter LED drivers), DTP-2xx Series (DALI-2 touch panels), DLS-2xx Series (DALI-2 PIR sensors), and SPWM Series (75W/150W/240W constant voltage dimming/color tuning power supplies). These new products highlight MEAN WELL’s comprehensive ecosystem and multifunctional integration capabilities.
According to Denny Hu, MEAN WELL’s XLC Series products support a variety of dimming protocols, including 3-in-1 dimming, DALI-2, KNX, and Matter. This allows system integrators to choose the appropriate version from a single product family based on specific project requirements, thereby simplifying both the design and inventory management. The XLC-KN Series distinguishes itself by integrating KNX control functions directly into AC/DC LED drivers—an approach that is relatively uncommon among power supply manufacturers and enhances system installation efficiency. In addition, the XLC-MA Series, based on Matter-over-Thread technology, has received CSA Alliance’s Matter certification. These drivers feature constant power design, flicker-free operation, and very low dimming levels (down to 0.5% at constant current or 0.1% at constant voltage), making them ideal for wireless control in smart homes and buildings.

With Certified Compliance, Customers Enjoy One-Stop Procurement Convenience and Quality Assurance
MEAN WELL underscores its commitment to a complete ecosystem and high compatibility in its smart lighting strategy. “Within the DALI-2 system domain, MEAN WELL excels by providing a comprehensive range of DALI solutions, from LED drivers and main controllers to touch panels and sensors,” explained Hu. “This complete product line forms a highly reliable, highly compatible, and DALI-2 certified ecosystem, offering system integrators one-stop procurement convenience and quality assurance. It also eliminates the need to coordinate with multiple suppliers, allowing for streamlined deployment from hardware to control systems.”
MEAN WELL’s DALI-2 Series products have all received official DALI certification, which significantly reduces risk and debugging costs for system integrators during the installation process. For example, the DTP-2xx series DALI-2 touch panels comply with DALI-2 standards 101/103/301/332. This series offers two standard sizes—r European and American—and configurations with three, four, or six buttons. They support multiple functions such as single-click, double-click, and long-press operations. Additionally, they feature adjustable backlight brightness and an optional key sound toggle to balance convenience and silent operation requirements, catering to installation needs across various global markets.
The DALI-2 PIR sensors are core components for achieving efficient automated lighting and precise energy savings. These sensors feature a dual-function design, incorporating both infrared human motion detection and ambient light sensing. This allows for accurate assessment of space usage and lighting conditions to enable intelligent dimming. To address different application needs, the DALI-2 PIR sensors come in two versions: a low-mount version, suitable for offices and homes with a standard installation height of about 3 meters, and a high-mount version, suitable for warehouses, lobbies, and other spaces with high ceilings, with a standard installation height of about 8 meters. This variety ensures the sensors meet differing requirements for sensing distances and ranges across various application scenarios.
