Samsung Electronics, SDI to jointly develop OLED Display

Recently, Samsung Electronics, the world's largest maker of liquid crystal displays, and Samsung SDI, a plasma display panel maker, announced they will set up a joint venture to develop an organic electroluminescent display panel.

According to Scientists, the OLED display, means high-quality images, so it’s difficult to make, but one day could become a display standard for the consumer electronics market. Samsung Electronics will spend 935.8 billion won to acquire 50 percent of the new company, to be named Samsung Mobile Display, and Samsung SDI will spin off its OLED division to form the joint venture in September.
