Nichia Files a Patent Infringement Lawsuit against Companies in China, Hong Kong and Canada

Nichia Corporation recently announced that it filed a lawsuit against Shenzhen Jiawei Industries Co. Ltd., a Chinese corporation, Jiawei Technology (HK) Ltd., a Hong Kong corporation, and Jiawei North America Inc., a Canadian corporation, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, alleging the defendants infringe patents held by Nichia. In the lawsuit Nichia seeks an injunction and damages against the alleged infringement.

In the Complaint which commenced the lawsuit, Nichia alleges that the defendants infringe three Nichia patents directed to white LEDs (U.S. Patent Nos. 5,998,925, 7,026,756 and 7,531,960) and a patent directed to LED chips (U.S. Patent No. 6,870,191).

Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes actions against infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.
