The Centennial Bulb, the longest burning light bulb in history which has been burning for the last 108 years at fire station No.6 in Livermoore California, has yesterday been replaced with an energy efficient LED bulb.
The bulb had been featured on many TV shows, numerous books and articles as the longest burning light bulb. There is even a Centennial Bulb committee to provide a live web-cam of the bulb. While yesterday, it has finally been removed and a very energy efficient LED has taken the place. The name of the committee will also be changed to the "Energy Saving Bulb Committee".
However, this replacement has not much saddened the staff in the fire station. "We are happy with the replacement", said fire fighter O'Shadley, "The light is so much brighter I can now see all the dust I've been missing sweeping the floor".
"The bulb has used enough energy burning for the last 108 years to power the whole fire station for years." said Bob the fire chief, "We just decided it was to much of an energy hog to allow the bulb to burn for another 108 years, enough is enough".
