Demonstrating that LED lighting is now viable for large-scale exterior applications, Philips Color Kinetics announced Monday two new floodlights with light output of more than 8,500 lumens - a first in high-quality exterior LED floodlighting.
Expanding the ColorReach™ Powercore product line, new eW® Reach Powercore and iW® Reach Powercore floodlights can dramatically accentuate building exteriors and landmarks with a choice of high-quality white or fixed color light, while at the same time reducing energy consumption and maintenance. It offers an alternative to traditional metal halide sources, providing more lumens of output (over 8,500 lumens at 2700 K; over 11,000 lumens at 4000 K) and unparalleled light projection (over 700 feet at 2700 K; over 800 feet at 4000 K) than any other competitive light fixture. This powerful fixture represents the next generation in exterior illumination.
The new product is available in eight color temperatures, ranging from a warm 2700 K to a cool 6500 K, and five solid colors - Royal Blue, Blue, Green, Amber, and Red .
As compared with traditional sources typically used for such exterior projects, such as a 1,000 watt fixture that has an average lifetime of 20,000 hours, these new light sources boast an energy savings of over 75% and average lifetime of over 50,000 hours. In addition, due to the directional nature of LED sources, light can be placed exactly where it is needed - mitigating wasteful light that causes light pollution.
ColorReach Powercore, the original offering in this series of high-output floodlights, is already in use in a host of applications worldwide, including the Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, Turkey; County Hall in London, England; the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, New York, and the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand.
