Downtown Gaylord of USA has received a $50,000 grant from the State's Economic Recovery Monies and planed to replace 86 lights on main street with new LED lights.
The new lights will be dark-sky compliant, and the total cost of the project will be $62,000.In addition, they will also save the city an expected $5,500 a year. The plan is to save money and replace the rest of the 145 total lights in the downtown area.
According to Gaylord City Manager Joe Duff, "It’ll have a very different look. The light will be cooler-white light as opposed to the orange light high-pressure sodium gives, so we think we're going to see a dramatic difference in the appearance of downtown, there's no question about that."
