Hill County of USA Acquired Grant to LED Retrofit

Currently, Hill County has acquired a State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) $86,365 grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Funds were allocated to replace parking-lot lighting with solar-powered LED lighting at the Hill County Sheriff’s Office on Hall Street. LED lighting will also brighten the facility outside. Besides, the sheriff’s office jail on North Waco Street in Hillsboro will also get a lighting makeover. The LED lights will replace several high pressure sodium light fixtures ,ten floodlights on the exterior of the Hill County Courthouse.

It was estimated that energy and maintenance costs totaling $60,000 will be saved by the county over the next five years.

The lighting overhaul, con-tracted by Solar Wind Technologies out of Allen, is expected to be completed next month.
