Epistar announces today the successful development of a new AlGaInP LED with record-breaking efficacy of 133 lm/W. Applying the company's novel light-extracting technology, Epistar’s newest additions to its PX series of chips continue to push the envelope on energy efficiency and lighting quality.
At a dominant wavelength of 613 nm, the small chip in the PX series reaches 133 lm/W driven by 20mA, while the power chip in the same series reaches 110 lm/W at 350mA.
This outstanding performance makes the small chip a preferred choice for outdoor display and RGB BLU applications and the power chip, with its good CRI and high efficacy, an excellent solution for warm white lighting. Epistar also announced new advances in its AX LED series. With a special bonding technology, its efficacy is now measured in 123 lm/W at 612nm.
Furthermore, these new LEDs are able to effectively avoid UV damage in outdoor environments. Therefore, the newest products in the AX series will provide prolonged, stable lighting solutions in practical outdoor conditions.
In addition, Epistar's AX LEDs can be packaged on a non-conductive carrier for certain lighting applications. Figure 2 shows the AX LED with its increased side light-emissions as compared to the PX series.
In its AX and PX series product lines, Epistar continues to demonstrate its commitment to launching innovative high-efficiency AlGaInP LEDs that provide lighting solutions with both high CRI and high efficacy warm white light in lighting applications and high performance in RGB BLU. Epistar's extensive product portfolio of small chips and power chips offers customers the flexible, energy efficient lighting options and has pushed Epistar to a leading position in the market for red LEDs.
