Some Taiwan LED Makers Announce May Revenue

Epistar Corp. registered revenue of US$54.6 million in May, up 6% month-on-month (MoM) and 78% year-on-year (YoY), achieving record monthly revenues three months in a row.

Demand for LEDs for LCD TV backlights and for general illumination, has been strong, said by Rider Chang, Epistar`s vice president and spokesman.

Unity Opto Technology Co., Ltd. posted record monthly revenue in May again of US$21.9 million, a 17% MoM increase and a 117.7% YoY growth, achieving revenue records three straight months since March.

Production lines are filled and new capacities coming online will further raise shipments in the third quarter, company spokesman Wong Tsun-chih says.

Formosa Epitaxy Inc. had May revenue of US$14.1 million, a record high and a 178% YoY increase. Company executives say market demand has been very strong and Formosa Epitaxy`s second-quarter revenue is expected to grow at least 50% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ).

After tapping into supply chains of large LED-backlight LCD TV panels, Bright Led Electronics Corp. registered revenue of US$16.3 million in May, up 10% MoM and 70.9% YoY.
