Philips created an AC-powered module for OLED products

Philips Research has developed an AC-powered module for accelerating the move to create mainstream OLED products.

Instead of current OLEDs which require low-voltage direct current sources, the alternating current powered white-light module can be plugged directly into a wall socket.

It's said that Philips Research developed this module as part of the TOPSA 2012 project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The work was done in collaboration with the Institut für Hochfrequenztechnik in Braunschweig, Germany. And the company already sells a line of commercial and industrial OLEDs for lighting.
