NMC Plans to Make LED Traffic Signals Retrofit

Reportedly, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has planed to install new LED traffic signals at 61 locations in the city at a cost of about Rs 3 crore in the coming financial year 2011-2012.

It’s said that the city has traffic signals at 124 junctions currently. And 49 have already been replaced by LED ones. According to NMC's traffic engineer N K Khan , seventy-five signals are more than 20 years old and need to be either replaced or upgraded.

The work to be completed in a phased manner, would be completed in the next four months, in effect covering junctions in all core areas. Additionally, it also plans to fit timers at 57 junctions.
