Korean Government Retrofits LED Signs for Energy Saving

Korean government is about to replace electronic signs in the country with LED ones to save energy.

It’s said that the Ministry of Knowledge Economy plans to spend 100 million won or around 89-thousand US dollars this year to change 10-thousand electronic signages to LED.

At present, around 90 percent of electronic signages using fluorescent lighting are installed at some 5.2 million businesses across the nation. And Nearly 90 percent of the signs are being used by merchants who cannot afford the energy-efficient, but costly LED signs.

The ministry expects the change will reduce greenhouse gas emission as well as save around 25-thousand dollars per year.
