Unity Opto’s Beijing Plant will Become a Major Maker in Northern China

Unity Opto Technology’s new plant located in Beijing, China is announced to be completed in early 2012 and will start mass production in the first quarter of next year.

According to the company’s chairman, C.H. Wu, initial monthly capacity at the Beijing plant will be about 200 million LEDs, to be supplied mainly to Chinese makers of TFT-LCD panels, including BOE Technology Group for LCD TV panel backlighting.

industry sources estimated that Unity Opto`s Beijing plant would become BOE`s major LED supplier as well as a major maker of illumination-application LEDs in northern China in the future.

Additionally, thanks to strong demand in China,its Beijing plant will generate annual revenue of NT$3 billion to NT$4 billion (US$100 million to US$130 million).
