Sony India Rs 150 cr Investment in LED TV Market Expansion

Reportedly, Sony India has decide to invest Rs 150 crore to expand its latest LED TV market  this year.

According to the company’s senior company official , the company will expand its channel network to 6,000 outlets as part of its strategy to maintain market leadership in the flat-panel segment.

Tadato Kimura, GM – marketing of Sony India, said, “The market for LED TVs has been steadily increasing over the past one year. Sony sold close to 8-lakh Bravia TVs last year and the number is expected to go up to 12 lakh by the end of this financial year.”

According to latest GFK reports, demand for LED TVs is on an upswing with 15 per cent contribution to total flat panel sales till April 2011. “We look forward to maintain our 30 per cent market share,” Kimura said.

“We hope to sell around 95,000 flat-panel TVs in Tamil Nadu and are aiming to capture 35 per cent market share. Our channel strength will increase from 500 to 700 outlets,” he said.
