Taiwan major LED packager Unity Opto Technology Co., Ltd., is satisfied with its revenue of NT$513 million (US$17.7 million) in July, up 2%.
According to Unity Opto , sales of international TV brands have recovered in the third quarter,despite of the weak demand from LCD backlight modules. The company has seen clear increase of orders for backlighting application from TV makers in August.
For shipments of illumination-application LEDs,it have been smooth in the past few months, especially deliveries to Japan. The company expects clear shipment growth in August, when both the backlighting and illumination demands turn strong.
Unity Opto estimated, interior LED-illumination applications have been increasingly and the falling cost has successfully stimulated demand for both interior and commercial LED applications month by month. In July, illumination-application LEDs accounted for more than 30% of Unity Opto`s revenue, while in the third quarter, such income is expected to be the company`s major revenue-growth momentum.
Steadily upgrading light-emitting efficiency, adamant anti-nuclear power sentiment, energy-saving consciousness have been stimulating stronger demand for LEDs, especially galvanized by the March quake that has motivated the Japanese to save energy,according to Unity Opto.The Taiwanese LED maker began developing sales network in Japan in 2010 to see sizable returns this year.
Apart from Japanese market, it’s said that Unity Opto`s board recently decided to invest another US$9 million in its plant in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, China to expand capacity.
