Cooper Lighting’s LED Products Featured on DesignLights Consortium’s Qualified Products List

The Company continues to invest in energy-efficient LED lighting solutions to support sustainable design practices.

Cooper Lighting, an industry leader committed to delivering innovative products and driving transformational technology in the lighting industry, is pleased to announce its products represent approximately 50 percent of the recommended commercial LED models on the DesignLights™ Consortium (DLC) Qualified Product List (QPL). The DLC, a collaboration of Canadian and United States utility companies and regional energy efficiency organizations committed to raising awareness of the benefits of efficient lighting in commercial buildings, publishes the QPL as a resource for program administrators to assist in selecting high-quality, high-performing solid-state lighting products for their energy efficiency promotions.

The mission at DLC is to help builders, architects, designers and commercial property owners from across the nation implement improved design practices in all areas of the commercial lighting market. By providing supporting members with resources and information on reliable LED solutions, the DLC hopes to ensure that high-quality, energy-efficient lighting design becomes commonplace in all lighting installations.

“In this dynamic new LED luminaire market, DLC member programs are an essential bridge between the interests of customers and manufacturers, both now and in the future,”said Jon Linn, DLC’s program manager and the commercial programs manager for the Northwest Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP), the non-profit organization that facilitates regional partnerships to advance energy efficiency. “By using the DLC products list and specifications, program managers protect their customers’ interests by assuring quality, performance and longevity in their projects.”

Of the over 7,000 recommended products on the QPL, Cooper Lighting currently has more than 3,600 models represented across multiple brands including Halo, Metalux, McGraw-Edison, Lumark, Invue and Streetworks. Cooper Lighting’s listed products provide LED solutions for both indoor and outdoor applications and include outdoor area and roadway luminaires, outdoor wall-mount luminaires, bollards, track lighting fixtures, and troffer luminaires.

"The DesignLights Consortium has been instrumental in the development of Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s energy efficiency programs," said Carolyn Weiner, Senior Product Manager of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E). "PG&E can be assured that products from manufacturers approved by the DesignLights Consortium have been tested using industry best practices and meet strict efficacy and quality performance standards."

Originally modeled after the Department of Energy’s (DOE) ENERGY STAR® program for solid-state lighting products, the QPL covers categories that ENERGY STAR doesn’t include in its program. Each of the products listed on the QPL must be a high-performing commercial LED product and must meet the DLC's minimum performance requirements. The program requires a third-party independent evaluation from product test reports by accredited labs as evidence of performance, including efficacy and color with LM-79 reports and lumen lifetime with luminaire operating temperature and LM-80 reports.

Without a comprehensive plan for evaluating commercial LED products in the absence of a national standard, DesignLights™ Consortium Qualified Product List can be an invaluable resource for energy efficiency commercial programs. "LED technology is a great leap forward in energy-efficient lighting for our customers, and the DesignLights Consortium plays an important role in advancing market transformation," said Weiner.

“Cooper Lighting is committed to supporting energy efficiency programs that improve our economy and the environment,” said Mark Eubanks, President, Cooper Lighting. “The DesignLights Consortium Qualified Products List saves time and brings confidence to lighting specifiers and property owners that they are selecting high-performing, energy-efficient, reliable products eligible for participating incentive programs across the United States, Canada and other countries.”

Cooper Lighting has made a significant investment in people, resources and technology to ensure the company provides first-class solutions to its customers’ lighting challenges. The Company offers a range of indoor and outdoor LED lighting products and controls, all of which are specifically designed to maximize energy and cost savings.
