Edison Opto LED Testing Laboratory Awarded UL Safety Certification

The photometric testing laboratory of Edison Opto, Taiwan’s leading LED manufacturer, has become the first in Taiwan to receive certifications in both safety and lasting performance. Edison Opto is also a standout in the area of LED LM-80 (lumen maintenance). In early 2012, Edison Opto became the first LM 80 corporate testing laboratory to be certified by UL, and in September of the same year, was certified by UL as a product safety testing laboratory. The ability to truly integrate safety with durability in the LED product design phase, as well as the ability to effectively manage the time required to go from development to production, has bolstered Edison Opto’s competitive advantages in the LED lighting industry.

In recent years, the issues of global warming and energy efficiency have led major consumer markets in the lighting industry, such as Europe, the United States, Japan, and China, to implement national policies phasing out the use of incandescent light bulbs. This has heated up the market for LED lighting products, and encouraged continuous product innovation. As one of the world’s leading producers of LED products, Taiwan and its various domestic industries have been active in expanding the LED industry, enabling Taiwan to become the most important base for the production of LED lighting, as well as wafers and semiconductor components. Apart from efficiency and competitiveness, the importance of product safety responsibility in lighting production cannot be overlooked. Businesses that are either already a part of the industry chain or looking to enter the industry must pay due attention to LED performance and safety, in order to achieve comprehensive and lasting competitiveness in the market.

Edison Opto states that it has long been focusing on the innovation and development of LED lighting products, continuously elevating technological capability and production capacity. The certifications in product safety and performance will enable Edison Opto to reduce time spent on R&D and dive into the international market. Additionally, Edison Opto will be able to utilize UL’s certification network around the world and extensive knowledge on safety standards to expand services globally to the various fields of lighting applications, combining innovation with the advantages of validation by renowned agencies around the world. Edison Opto has the advantage of rapid validation of the company’s internal testing laboratory, which allows Edison Opto to maintain its leading position in the global lighting market.
