The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) has honored the ENERGY STAR(R) Sustained Excellence Award to GE Lighting President & CEO Maryrose Sylvester. It was the seventh consecutive year that GE's appliances and lighting businesses were recognized with the honor.
Sylvester was pleased to receive the award and said that, "We're proud that GE Lighting has more than 500 ENERGY STAR(R)-qualified products which provide increased energy efficiency for our customers. Being recognized for sustained excellence shows the value of listening to customers, and points to our ability to swiftly put innovations born in GE labs into the hands of customers."
GE was recognized for its support of the ENERGY STAR(R) program through a variety of initiatives, including training sales employees, retailers and distributors, promoting ENERGY STAR(R)-qualified products, and recycling at company locations.
GE Lighting offered a total of 501 ENERGY STAR(R)-qualified LED and CFL products in 2011--more than at any point in its history and 29 percent more than in 2010. Approximately three-fourths of all GE Lighting CFL and LED products sold in the United States in 2011 were ENERGY STAR(R)-qualified.
