Light Planet launches new destination site for the solid state lighting industry

A new information resource centre for solid state lighting in the UK has been launched today as part of an ambitious move to accelerate the widespread adoption of LED technology.

LightPlanet.co.uk will be the premier online destination for LED product data and procurement. The site has been created by advanced lighting solution specialists OCG Lighting, who have rebranded as Light Planet to reflect the broadened scope of their offering.

Light Planet will bring together leading suppliers of LED technology and allow them to share product information, expertise, case studies, white papers and other content on the site. Visitors will be able to use the site to access data on a comprehensive range of high quality products from major brands as well as niche players.

Light Planet will also offer industry professionals a number of tools to assist in LED procurement and installation, including creating designs and light plans, building project folders and generating quotes.

“LED technology has underdone rapid development in recent years and is now a commercially viable, flexible alternative that offers significant energy and maintenance savings in a wide range of applications,” explained Light Planet Managing Director, Simon Leggett.

“However, as an industry we are still dealing with a challenging legacy that includes a lack of accurate information around today’s LED technology and an operating environment that is still very much based on traditional or fluorescent-focused standards.”

“The new site is designed to be a comprehensive resource for stakeholders across the industry — from end users to contractors, designers and facilites managers — who all stand to benefit from the adoption of solid state lighting.”
