Philips Lumileds has launched the industry’s smallest high-power LED power LED package. LUXEON Z enables a level of customizability in luminaire design that, up to now, had been unattainable.
Designers can now use the new, ultra-compact, un-encapsulated LEDs to create countless packaging, optical configurations and lighting design from 440-670 nanometers, including white, the LUNXEON Z offers the industry’s highest commercially available lumen density.
The new LUXEON Z allows for integrated approaches that break today’s paradigms in luminaire development. Unlike conventional products, designers can use the LUXEON Z to create specialized 2X 2, 3X2, 6X1 and other mono-color or multi-color arrays for existing and new luminaires. LUXEON Z fundamentally takes the building block approach and puts design flexibility back in the hands of engineers and specifiers,” says Rahul Bammi, VP Product Management at Philips Lumileds. With this breakthrough, configurations are virtually limitless, and with the ability to mount as 250 LUXEON Z LEDs in one square-inch, designers can reach new levels in lumen densities.
Simplifying development of products such as wall-washers, moving-head spotlights, tunable retrofits and even remote phosphor-based lamps, the LUXEON Z will give engineers a modular approach to developing entertainment, architectural and specialty lighting products. Moreover, the un-encapsulated chips can easily accommodate custom optics, eliminating the need for complex, inefficient secondary lenses. With the launch of LUXEON Z, Philips Lumileds has demonstrated its commitment to proving state-of-the-art LED solutions designed to inspire the imaginations of lighting designers.
