Looking at Taiwan LED makers’ operation results, it turns out that the debt crisis will impact them to different degrees in the second half.
Unity Opto Technology, had revenue of NT$785 million (US$26.2 million) in July, a 10% month-on-month (MoM) increase and a record monthly high.
The company attributed the record monthly high to many positive factors including additional orders from customers for new products, increasing demand from LED backlighting modules, increasing shipments of LCD TVs and tablet PCs from Taiwan-based EMS (electronics manufacturing services) providers, increasing shipments of Chinese TV makers, and increasing penetration of LED bulbs in Taiwan due to major 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) chain-stores promotions etc.
Everlight had unconsolidated revenue of NT$1.42 billion (US$47.3 million), down slightly from the previous month, having been focusing on LED illumination products to win 50%-plus market share in Taiwan.
CCFL and LED supplier Wellypower Optronics, had consolidated revenue of NT$2 billion (US$67.5 million) in the second quarter. The firm`s CCFL shipments have been dropping, to about 13% in the second quarter, while LED rose to 62%, with registered net profits of NT$25 million (US$83,333), and revenue of NT$730 million (US$24.3 million), up 4.3% MoM.
