Recently, Everlight’s spokesman B.Y. Liu has said that the company is developing a two-pronged strategy for its LED luminaire business, including contract manufacturing operation and brand name operation.
It’s the first time that the company decided to provide contract manufacturing service to brand name luminaire suppliers after introducing its own-brand lighting fixtures in 2011.
According to Industry executives, through contract manufacturing service Everlight has proved that price competition in the LED-luminaire market has grown intensive, pushing brand name suppliers to lure orders with contract service. They said lighting heavyweights such as Philips and Osram also drum up subcontract orders in markets where the chance for their brand name operation is slim.
Providing contract manufacturing service will further intensify Everlight’s competition with Delta Electronics in Taiwan, where Delta is already a contract supplier and brand name supplier. Delta began LED luminaire operation with entering into the Japanese market and promotes brand name products in Taiwan.
Everlight began LED luminaire business by supplying EVERLIGHT-branded lamps in mainland China and ZENANO-branded lamps in Europe. To promote its brand names overseas, the company appointed Ikan Cokgor, a former Intematix Corp. executive, as its vice president in charge of global marketing.
