LED specialist Light Planet is proud to announce its selection as a finalist in the Energy Efficiency Initiative of the Year category in The Electrical Industry Awards 2012.
The Electrical Industry Awards recognises the achievements of those working in the UK’s diverse electrical sector and celebrates all that is best in the industry. The Energy Efficiency Initiative of the Year category rewards the introduction or application of a new process, system or product that has brought about significant to energy savings.
The selection is based on the company’s retrofit of the London School of Economics, in which they deployed a tailored approach to implement LED lighting solutions across several of the university’s buildings in central London. The retrofit is expected to save LSE £150,000 in its energy and maintenance costs over the next 5 years and the payback periods for the three buildings concerned are impressive at less than one, two and five years, respectively.
Moreover, Light Planet has proven that energy efficiency technologies such as LEDs can perform fantastically in terms of quality and intensity of light source and need not involve sacrifices in performance.
Matt Gale, Project Manager at LSE, explained: “The benefits of LED lighting are proving tangible to us in terms of energy efficiency, energy cost and labour savings.”
Simon Leggett, Managing Director of Light Planet, commented: “We’re delighted that our hard work and innovation in the energy efficiency and electrical sectors has been recognised by such a prestigious awarding body.”
