Yesterday, a group of people consisting of ten academicians from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), two leaders from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and three industry specialists came to Chengdu and conducted an appraisal for the "research and development of Controllable Rare Earth LED luminescent material and its application in the semiconductor lighting", which is jointly developed by Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of CAS and Sichuan Sunfor Light Co. Ltd.
Identifiers from CAS all agree that it passed through the appraisal, and believe that the project has made a major breakthrough in the rare earth luminescent materials and global semiconductor lighting technology, which has reached the international advanced level, so that China becomes the unique country to produce low-stroboscopic AC LED products with rare earth phosphor around the world.
According to the introduction from Ming Zhang, the chairman of Sunfor Light Co. Ltd, currently, most of the LED lighting manufacturers produce DC LED lighting devices, the service life of DC LED is considerably shorter than that of AC LED, and substantially increases the cost of LED lighting equipments. The new generation AC LED lighting equipment developed by Sunfor Light Co. Ltd saves 15% more energy than the common DC LED devices, and saves 50% more electricity than traditional energy-saving lamps. For example, if all lighting devices in Chengdu are traditional energy-saving lamps, and when all traditional energy-saving lamps are replaced by AC LED lighting devices, the same power consumption can supply the lighting demand of two Chengdu.
