Toshiba Develops New LED Lighting Technology Indicating Different Routes with Colors

Toshiba Lighting technology will offer LED lighting solution with indicator to the Higashi-Kanagawa Station of JR in Yokohama, Kanagawa. Yokohama line and Keihin Tohoku line use the Higashi-Kanagawa Station in different time. The LED lighting devices JR decided to import this time are equipped with indicator, which suggests passengers with the same color with the train line that which train will arrive or depart in the following time.

As the ground illuminating device for the station lighting, it comes with white light (color temperature of 5000K, the average color rendering index of Ra70) LED modules, the combination of embedded optical sensor and train schedule lighting controller is applied in it, as compared with fluorescent lamps, it can save energy. In addition, some places of the station will also use warm light (color temperature of 3000K, the average color rendering index of Ra70) station lighting (without indicator). The station can be maintained comfort all day through blending the space color temperatures.

The 332 units of station lighting devices with indicator (white light) and 76 units of station lighting lamps without indicator (warm light) to be provided will be put into use on September 15, 2013. Compared with the use of 179 units of devices with two 110W fluorescent tubes, the use of this new technology Toshiba to provide will reduce power consumption, electricity and emission of carbon dioxide by about 50%.
