DOE Issues SSL Commercial Building Technology Request for Information

The Building Technologies Office (BTO) of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has announced a request for information (RFI) of interest to the solid-state lighting community. Issued through BTO's Commercial Buildings Integration (CBI) Program, the RFI (DE-FOA-0001226) is entitled “High Impact Commercial Building Technology” and can be viewed online.

BTO has developed the High Impact Technology (HIT) Catalyst, a framework for accelerating the voluntary adoption of high-impact, cost-effective, energy-saving, and underutilized commercial building technologies. The HIT priority list includes LED troffers with controls and is posted on the High Impact Technology Catalyst website.

The RFI seeks inputs from interested parties, including technology providers and technology end users (such as building owner/operators), for the next annual review of HITs. This input will enable CBI to prime the market for high-impact technologies currently under development; develop a pipeline of underutilized, high-impact technologies ready for market; better understand market potential, interest, and readiness; and connect technology providers with demonstration hosts, distributors, end users, and tools to assist in the acceleration of market uptake.

Interested parties should review the RFI for instructions on how to submit responses, and should not submit proprietary or confidential information. This is solely a request for information and not a funding opportunity announcement, and no applications or solicitations will be accepted. Responses must be emailed to CBIRFI2015@ee.doe.gov by 5:00 p.m. ET on December 30, 2014.
