Leadray Energy Initiates Global Strategy with New Taipei Office

Leadray Energy, a Taiwanese manufacturer based in Miaoli County in central Taiwan, unveiled its new Taipei office at Taipei World Trade Center on March 17, 2014. The new Taipei office reveals the company’s ambition in the global market.

Originally a furniture manufacturer, Leadray Energy did not enter the LED business till about 10 years ago. The company remains unlisted on the Taiwan bourse, but its products have already earned streetlight contracts in several countries. Leadray Energy has become a major player in the Taiwan streetlight market with the installation of 80,000 LED streetlights, its streetlights are also installed outside of a FOREPI subsidiary in Yangzhou, China.

Leadray Energy has earned it a unique position in Taiwan LED Lighting Industry Alliance as it remains the only unlisted company in the alliance  of  43 registered members, said the alliance Chairman, Chien Feng-ren, who is also Chairman of FOREPI during the opening ceremony.

The company's strength lies in its heat dissipation designs, an essential feature for outdoor lighting products because of water-proof requirements and tests. “As you may know, when LED streetlights breaks down it’s usually due to driver issues, but we have not seen this occur in Leadray lights used outside in the streets of our Yangzhou factory,” added Chien. Streetlights are often fully submerged in the water to test for the IP ratings, which makes heat dissipation especially important, explained Chien.

In terms of its manufacturing method, Leadray Energy has chosen a partnership method in China that keeps R&D and procurement in Taiwan, but packaging in Guangdong, China, said Leadray CEO Chris Chang. The company will be placing increasing emphasis in the overseas market this year, with a focus on South America and Southeast Asia markets.
