LG Display is in talks with Panasonic to supply big-screen OLED TV panels as the Japanese company lower production costs, according to a Bloomberg report.
Sources familiar with the matter that declined to be named because of the private talks noted LG Display is trying to scale up OLED adoption. The company is also said to be planning to add other Japanese customers, the sources said. LG Display is already a provider of small OLED screens to Apple.
“Winning more orders from Japanese makers will certainly help the OLED TV market open up faster than expected,” said Claire Kim, an analyst at Daishin Securities Co. in Seoul. “I don’t think LG can aggressively slash OLED panel prices just yet. It will mainly target the high-premium market for a while.”
The Korean manufacturer, LG Display plans to supply OLED panels larger than 55 inches to Panasonic, two sources familiar with the talks said. For further details please click here.
