June Marks Epistar’s Fourth Consecutive Month of Growth

Epistar reported good revenue performance in June, benefitting from high backlight and lighting demands, according to the China Times. Consolidated revenue in June reached NT $2.82 billion (US $94.2 million), increase of 0.85 percent MoM, making it the fourth consecutive month with record high revenue. Lextar performance in June was equally good, hitting a single month high of NT $1.36 million. FOREPI reported revenue of NT $500 million in June, up 4.36 percent MoM.

Epistar order visibility at present is high. Production in 3Q14 is anticipated to reach maximum capacity. Gap in production capacity for high-end blue light was 20-30 percent. LED lighting demands also surpassed expectations. Lighting penetration rate was originally estimated to reach 60-70 percent by 2018-2019, but might actually hit the target by 2017. Consolidated revenue for the first half of 2014 was NT $14.37 billion, growth of 38.25 percent YoY. It is estimated that revenue for 2014 could exceed NT $28 billion.

After Epistar announced plans to acquire FOREPI, the two companies have already begun cooperating. FOREPI became Epistar’s OEM in July and OEM responsibilities will continue to increase in the future. It is estimated that product prices will rise in the wake of the acquisition and that single quarter performance will show a turnaround. Revenue for 3Q14 has the possibility to grow by 40 percent.
