The Indian government is halting subsidies to CFL-based solar lights to encourage the adoption of LED solar lights, reported Live Mint.
“The ministry has stopped providing central financial assistance to CFL-based solar lighting system and the same will be available to LED-based solar lighting system”, ministry of new and renewable energy said in a curriculum in New Delhi.
Under the Domestic Efficient Lighting Program (DELP), the government has distributed 32.7 million LED bulbs through distribution companies.
