  • Osram wins a patent infringement lawsuit case against Asus and Unity Opto. Asus tablets, which uses Unity Opto white LEDs, were found by the German court to have infringed Osram’s LED patents. The German company also spoke to LEDinside about their future LED chip strategy and developments.
  • TP LED Lighting, a Thailand-based LED company, reports its LED package capacity has reached approximately 8.64 million per month.
  • Seoul Semiconductor LED chips for automotive lighting applications has passed General Motors reliability tests, broadening the company’s entry into automotive lighting sector.
  • Merck launches its new OLED Application Center (OAC) in Korea, the company invested 7 million Euros into this new facility.
  • An Egypt state-owned company has started LED bulb production, and although the volume remains low at about 300,000 annually it is expected to generate sales revenue worth US $12.19 million.
