Lumos of India launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for its latest LED lit commute backpack, Aster, especially designed for cyclists. The campaign has secured US $18,492 or 34% of US $50,000.
With so many LED gadgets for cyclists on the market, what makes Aster stand out from others?
Aster is a weather-resistant backpack that increases cyclists’ on-road safety. The backpack accommodates 16 LED rear lights and 30 LED brake lights along with two profiles light and two front lights that enable the cyclist to be seen from different direction.
According to its Indiegogo introduction, the 16 red LED lights at the back allow the user to be seen from 250m away.
Built-in LED lights may not be new, but these LEDs are wirelessly connected to the sidekick gadget with accelerometer that automatically detects motion. Furthermore, the sidekick that sits on the handlebar also functions as a bike lock. Using the Lumos app the user can lock the bike with one touch. The handlebar unit alarm goes off if the bike is moved for more than five seconds.
Other than the smart LED lights, Aster has a helmet holder, a whistle buckle, U-lock holder loops, zipper bottle pockets and a rain cover.
Cyclists get to choose between Avatar blue and dark knight (black) for the appearance of the backpack. And Lumos provides 24L and 18L sizes for users to fit in either 15.6” or 14” laptops.
International backers contributing more than US $99 (plus additional shipping costs) can receive the backpack by December 2016.
