Hot Picks of the Week March 21-25
Highlights this week:
Lawsuits, lawsuits and more lawsuits. Basically sums up Nichia’s activities this week. The leading Japanese LED chip maker announced it filed three suits in one week, two of the lawsuits were against U.S. TV manufacturer Vizio, respectively in Eastern court of Texas and Central district court of California. The other lawsuit which it filed in early March was against Everlight China. In all three cases the Japanese company requested the court for injunctions and compensations. LEDinside also had an opportunity to speak to top representatives from Nichia this week about its product strategy for 2016, and ongoing suit with Vizio.
In response to Nichia’s trailing blaze of lawsuits, Everlight refuted YAG patents involved in the case in Beijing, China are invalid. Company representative also spoke to LEDinside about their product lineup for this year.
Another ongoing lawsuit that caught our eyes was Seoul Viosys suit filing against Salon Supply Store. What implications will this particular suit have on UV-A LED market developments remains to be seen. For more information please see below:
