Philips Reveals First 4K OLED TV

Philips has unveiled a 55-inch 4K OLED TV at IFA 2016 that it has coined 901F TV, reported the Verge.

Similar to competitor LG, the Philips TV has built in high dynamic range imaging (HDR) and 4K resolution. In addition, the TV has a built-in sound bar, Android TV, and uses Philips Ambilight ambient lighting system.

The Ambilight is a novelty to create a more immersive TV viewing experience, but also sets the new TV set apart from competition, reportedDigitaltrends. LED light strips on the sides of the top of the TV mirror colors on the screen, which Philips claims can help reduce eyestrain for viewers in dark rooms.

The OLED panel used for the Philips TV manufactured by TP Vision, which licenses Philips brand of TVs, has some very impressive features. The display has a 540-nit peak-light performance, and the Perfect Contrast system, which makes for improved contrast. It also employs the Philips’ Perfect Color system that includes a 17-bit color booster and intelligent color processing for deep blacks, bright whites and realistic skin tones.

The TV set also combines Philips Perfect Pixel Ultra HD Engine, which produces fluid motion that makes the TV look sharp, bright, and smooth from different viewing angles.

Philips also combines this with its own Perfect Pixel Ultra HD Engine, which it says ensures fluid motion. In short, the 901F looks sharp, bright, and smooth from all sorts of viewing angles.

The TV will be available at the end of 2016, but no retail prices were revealed yet. The Verge report estimates the new TV price range might be in the US $2,000 range based on prices for similar sized TVs on the market.
