Recently, Shenzhen Jufei Optoelectronics Co., Ltd (hereinafter to be referred as Jufei) has completed acquirement of a patent family on S/CASN phosphors from Panasonic of Japan. The patent family includes 37 patents from various countries and the patent rights are valid in many countries and regions around the world such as the United States, Europe, Germany, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, China. 

CASN phosphor is a kind of nitride red phosphor with molecular formula CaAlSiN3. It is also called 1113 phosphor as its chemical formula atomic coefficient is 1113. Matching with blue LED chips and green phosphor, it can produce white light, which is widely used in lighting and backlight products and fully applied to consumer and Auto products.

Apart from Japan's NIMS (National Institute for Materials Science) and Mitsubishi Corporation, who own a part of core patents of CASN phosphor, Japan's Panasonic company held another part of the core patents originally. Now Panasonic and Jufei reached a patent transfer agreement that Panasonic transfers its core patents of CASN to Jufei. 

As early as October 2019, Jufei has obtained the CASN phosphor application patent license from NIMS. And now it has acquired the CASN phosphor patent transferred by Panasonic. Till now, Jufei has more advantages in global intellectual property protection of CASN phosphor, opening a broader space for the promotion of CASN phosphor in the field of lighting and backlight products.

Lighting LED and backlight LED are the two main business segments of Jufei. On this basis, Jufei has expanded new business in automotive LED, Mini/Micro LED, invisible light, high-end lighting and other LED sectors.

At present, Jufei has achieved rapid development in niche market of automotive LED and Mini backlight LED. For automotive LED business, Jufei has entered the supply chain of the world’s major automotive module brands in terms of automotive backlight LED products and the resource pool of major domestic automotive brands in terms of automotive lighting LED products in the first half of the year. In addition, the series of high-power automotive lighting products launched by Jufei have been gradually applied to near and far light lights, daily running lights. Ultra-high color gamut and low blue eye care series LED products have also been applied to the full range of Li auto center control, streaming media rear-view mirror and other display screens.

In Mini LED sector, Jufei has realized continuous mass production with stable quality and performance for Mini LED backlight. In the first half of the year, the shipment of new products maintained rapid growth, becoming a strong driving force for Jufei’s revenue growth.

In the first half of 2023, Jufei achieved an increase in revenue and net profit by strengthening new product development and comprehensive budget management to reduce costs and increase efficiency. During the reporting period, Jufei’s revenue is 1.157 billion yuan, with an increase of 7.97%, of which LED product revenue was 1.063 billion yuan, with an increase of 9.86%. The  product comprehensive yield reached 99.285%. The net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies was 118 million yuan, with an increase of 5.75%. Furthermore, Jufei won the 24th China Patent Excellence Award with its continuous technological innovation in 2023.

It is not difficult to find that in recent years, the strength in technology research and development is one of Jufei’s core competitive advantages to maintain a steady growth. In terms of intellectual property rights, Jufei has promoted its own patents and strategic patent cooperation. According to the semi-annual report of 2023, Jufei has applied for more than 600 patents based on technology accumulation and innovation practice, of which invention patents account for about 45.6%. At the same time, Jufei is also actively engaged in strategic cooperation with internationally renowned enterprises for patent authorization, deepening the strategic layout of intellectual property rights.
