DH Lighting Enhancing Driver Experience with Innovative Lighting Solutions

In an exclusive interaction with Rajesh Rajgor at Automechanika Frankfurt 2024, Tom Chae, Executive Director of DH Lighting, shared in-depth insights on their cutting-edge contributions to automotive lighting. Leading with innovative smart ambient lighting technology, DH Lighting allows drivers to personalize their vehicle interiors by selecting lighting colors and patterns that dynamically adapt to driving conditions. “The market demands an adaptable in-car environment, not just to enhance mood but also to provide essential cues to the driver,” Tom explained. The system is centrally controlled, with OTA (over-the-air) updates that enable it to add new lighting scenarios, ensuring that drivers always have access to the latest functionality without requiring hardware modifications.

In addition to smart interiors, DH Lighting is enhancing safety with their LED retrofit products, compliant with European traffic regulations, making it easier for drivers to upgrade their vehicle lighting legally and safely. “Our LED retrofits comply with strict light beam patterns, preventing glare for oncoming drivers. This certification from the German Traffic Authority is crucial for ensuring safety,” noted Tom. With this certification, DH Lighting’s LED retrofits are approved across Europe, except in France, where additional regulatory approval is being pursued.

In the Indian market, known for its demand for powerful and durable lighting, DH Lighting recently launched specially designed working lamps. These lamps incorporate high and low beams alongside daytime running lights (DRLs) in a compact yet high-performance design. “India is a vital market for us, and our dedicated team on the ground ensures we’re meeting the unique needs of drivers here,” Tom added. All products are manufactured in South Korea, ensuring consistent quality and reliability that meet the brand’s standards globally.

Beyond current offerings, DH Lighting is also pioneering advanced lighting technologies, including micro-LED displays projected onto roads and animated logo lights that enhance brand recognition and driver experience. As a global leader in automotive lighting, DH Lighting collaborates with major brands like Hyundai and Kia, providing exterior and interior lighting solutions. “Our focus is not just on traditional lighting, but on pushing the boundaries of what lighting can do—adding dynamic displays and customizable options that respond to vehicle and driver conditions,” said Tom, reflecting the brand’s commitment to innovation.

With over 30 years in the industry, DH Lighting maintains a dedicated focus on R&D, adapting to both Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket demands. Their solutions span everything from basic bulbs to sophisticated lighting systems. “With each product, we strive to meet and exceed customer expectations, tailoring our designs for specific market needs,” Tom emphasized. This commitment underscores DH Lighting’s mission to continually evolve and lead in the automotive lighting industry, delivering innovative, safe, and reliable products that enhance the driving experience worldwide.
