Recent automotive orders have bolstered revenue for LED manufacturer Epistar, reported Economic Daily News on the 16th. Mid power LEDs are anticipated to drive up company revenue to 40 percent in 2014.
Although 4Q is typically a slack season for the LED industry, with backlight orders better than expected and increase in demand for LED lighting, orders remained strong for LED manufacturers in 4Q.
Performance this quarter surpassed the company’s expectations, said Rider Chang, spokesperson and vice general manager for Epistar. The company originally estimated revenue for Oct.-Nov. to reach between NT $1.8 billion (US $60.7 million) to NT $1.9 billion, instead revenue for the two months reached NT $1.98 billion and NT $2.08 billion respectively. The company anticipates 4Q performance to exceed 3Q.
