Cooper Lighting has prepared to move from Denver to Aurora . The lighting company, which employs 114 people at 4675 Holly St., is relocating to a 190,000-square-foot building at 18001 E. Colfax Ave. by the end of the summer.
In the meanwhile, the company plans to invest about $1.2 million on improvements to the facility, which will produce and distribute incandescent, fluorescent and LED lighting for commercial and residential clients. It will invest $400,000 in capital equipment as part of the move. Its investment over 10 years is expected to reach $8.9 million, according to city records.
The 10-year agreement with Aurora provides waivers and rebates of taxes up to $208,703. The agreement contains a provision for the company to repay a portion of the incentive if the job creation promised is not maintained during the term of the agreement.
Cooper also must meet the requirements for Adams County's average county wage of $42,172 a year. The company's average salary will beat that by about 10 percent, said Yuriy Gorlov, economic development manager for the Aurora EDC.
Cooper representatives could not be reached for comment.
