Korea and Taiwan Companies Working on Resume Production in China

As the world’s factory, the ongoing coronavirus epidemic caused continuous break for factories that affects worldwide companies. Technology companies from Taiwan and Korea are reporting delaying production as some of them have yet receive approval from the local governments to restart operation.

According to a report of Business Korea, Samsung’s Tianjin plant which product TVs for the China market postponed the reopening for one more week and may need to push off the date again depending on the policy of the local government. Also, three of ten of LG’s plants in China are waiting for local government’s approval to back to work.

For Taiwan-based LED factories, most of them report normal operation while a few plants are still waiting for approval. Chip maker Epistar and Lextar reported that they did not fully shutdown the plants during Lunar New Year holiday so the operation remains.

On the other hand, LED packager EVERLIGHT’s plant in Guangdong is still waiting for approval to resume production. LiteOn, whose plants spread across Changzhou and Guangzhou, reported restarted operation on February 10.
