San’an Opto Board Approves New MOCVD Purchase Methods

San’an Opto’s board recently approved its Xiamen arm’s MOCVD procurement method plans, according to a recent company statement.

Xiamen San’an Opto signed an agreement with German MOCVD manufacturer Aixtron on Sept. 26, 2014 to purchase 50 MOCVDs. Based on 2-inch 54 pcs sapphire wafer production capacity, which is equivalent to 100 MOCVDs. On Dec. 10, 2014, the company approved another purchase plan of 50 MOCVDs from U.S. manufacturer Veeco. In total Xiamen’s newly purchased MOCVDs production capacity based on 2-inch 54 pcs wafer productions is approximately equivalent to 200 MOCVDs.

To complete the procurement of 100 MOCVD equipment in a timely manner, and meet production schedule, the company’s board has decided to finance the procurement of 50 Veeco MOCVD equipment through public fundraising, while the company will acquire the remaining 50 AIXTRON MOCVD equipment with cash.
