The UAE’s largest telecommunication company Du announced it is testing LED-based Li-Fi or Visible Communication Technology (VLC) capable of transferring data at 1 gigabyte per second, reported The National.
The operator announced its Li-Fi trials conducted in partnership with local start up Zero1 were successful.
“We are currently working with major businesses to create tailor-made Li-Fi solutions and to test and validate the applications so that we can ensure we offer the latest in innovation to our valued customers," said Saleem Al Balooshi, executive vice president at du.
When Li-Fi will become commercialized in UAE remains uncertain, the company did not announce the launch date.
