Quantum Dot Mini-COB Display: A Leap Towards the Next-Gen COB

QD-mLED direct-view display technology has been steadily progressing towards the goal of "achieving ultimate display technology" since it was first jointly exhibited by Saphlux and Leyard in April 2023. This year, Saphlux has officially initiated the commercialization of its QD-mLED COB Display Product. Within a few months of its market debut, QD-mLED COB displays have quickly gained market acceptance, with nearly a thousand square meters of products already deployed.

8 Times Better Color Accuracy, Superior Color Performance

Compared to traditional COB solutions, QD-mLED COB enhances red color points to the BT-2020 standard. It resolves the issue of insufficient red light at wide viewing angles and color shifts towards blue-green in traditional displays. As demonstrated in the video below, we measured and compared the color temperature of traditional COB displays and QD-mLED COB displays at different angles. Traditional displays exhibit significant color changes when shifting from a small angle (frontal view) to a large angle (side view), showing a transition from white balance to a blue-green tint as the viewing angle increases. In contrast, QD-mLED COB displays maintain a more uniform white image without noticeable color temperature shifts. Data shows that at large angles, the color temperature shift value of traditional COB displays is eight times higher than that of QD-mLED COB displays.

Proven Success in the Market

QD-mLED direct-view display products have been successfully deployed across various scenarios and applications, including high-end home displays, commercial advertising displays, CAVE immersion screens, professional monitoring screens, conference all-in-one displays, and VR shooting studios. The total area of delivery has exceeded one thousand square meters. QD-mLED COB displays have been recognized by end-users for their high color accuracy, excellent color consistency, and eco-friendly characteristics.

Cases of QD-mLED COB Displays

The first 4K QD-mLED COB display, launched 18 months ago, has shown remarkable performance in terms of reliability and long lifespan. Actual measurements indicate that the white light brightness of the screen has changed by only 1.3% from the factory status. Additionally, the white light color coordinates (x: 0.275, y: 0.300) have not shifted from the factory settings, demonstrating the robust reliability and durability of QD-mLED COB displays.

Saphlux has been advancing its Quantum Dot in-situ encapsulation technology, achieving outstanding performance. Recent test reports indicate that Quantum Dot chips show no decay after storage at 60℃/90% humidity in their bare die state. This breakthrough ensures the product's reliability for prolonged use in more demanding environmental conditions, further enhancing the user experience.

Saphlux's Quantum Dot Mini/Micro-LED technology has significantly upgraded COB direct-view displays. With a strong foundation of reliability, QD-mLED technology not only enhances color performance in traditional COB applications but also supports the exploration of new COB applications such as CAVE screens and VR studios with its great color accuracy from all viewing angles. Saphlux will continue to deliver QD-mLED products to the market, leading the new era of COB displays.
