Daktronics Tapped To Upgrade LSU’s Tiger Stadium With Huge LED Display

News Source:

Louisiana State University has turned to Daktronics to bring new light to Tiger Stadium, with 16 LED displays totaling 19 million pixels and nearly 21,000 sq. ft. The main end-zone video display will measure more than 5,600 sq. ft. with 5.1 million pixels of its own. An additional video display will be added to LSU Soccer Stadium as part of this project in Baton Rouge, LA.

“These upgrades will be a welcome addition to Tiger Stadium and LSU’s Soccer Stadium,” says Scott Woodward, LSU’s Athletic Director. “Providing a first-class fan experience is always at the forefront of what we do, and there’s no doubt these significant video updates will create an even better in-venue experience for LSU fans this fall.”

End Zone Video Display Details

The main display in the north end zone measures approximately 37 feet high by 152.5 feet wide and 5.1 million pixels to deliver excellent image clarity and contrast with wide-angle visibility to appeal to fans throughout the main seating bowl.

In the opposite end zone, two corner boards will be installed to supplement the main video display. These displays each measure 48 feet high by 67 feet wide to bring additional video and replays to the game-day experience for Tigers fans.

These displays are capable of variable content zoning meaning each can show one large image or be divided into multiple zones of content to dynamically enhance the game-day presentation. The content can include any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

“Saturdays in Baton Rouge just got a lot more exciting!” says Perry Grave, Daktronics regional manager. “The improved resolution and sheer size of these new video displays is sure to elevate the game-day experience like never before for LSU football and soccer. We’re excited to see this project come together and have a positive impact on Tiger Athletics for years to come.”

Additional Display Information

A total of 11 LED ribbon displays totaling more than 2,350 linear feet will be mounted to the seating fascia to bring additional statistics and animations to Tiger Stadium. This includes the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events as these displays surround fans in digital technology.

Two additional displays are being installed at the north end zone for the tunnel awning and camera stand to bring more usable digital inventory to those spaces. The tunnel display measures 13 feet high by 7 feet wide and the camera stand display measures 3.5 feet high by 13 feet wide.

LSU Soccer Stadium Display Information

At the end of LSU Soccer Stadium, a new video display is being installed in 2024. It measures 18 feet high by 36 feet wide to deliver the same experience as Tigers fans receive at football games. It features all the same outdoor protections and capabilities as the displays installed at Tiger Stadium for a consistent fan experience at campus events.

Every display being installed in this project features a 10-millimeter pixel spacing.
