An owner of the 2015 Kia K900 has complained oncoming cars had been flashing at him because the LED headlights were simply too bright, according to a Popular Mechanics report.
The 16 LED lights used in the Kia K900 headlight system comprise of four low-beam LEDs on each side, making the lights appear as four individual lights instead of one big bulb. The car launched in January 2015 is interesting in that it uses Dynamic Bending headlights According to Kia, LED lights are also used for the car’s Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), LED fog lights, turn signal indicators, and Blind Spot Detection System.
While LEDs can be great in ensuring the road is bright enough, it could be blinding for drivers in the opposite lane. The high beam lights in the 2015 Kia K900 were compared to “Rikers Island searchlights during a prison break” by the author of the article.
Perhaps something automotive LED light manufacturers need to take into consideration when designing the lights.
